We awoke bright and early at 7:30 and had our first Zambian breakfast! We then got to exchange money at a modern mall. The money here is called kwacha. It is worth 5 for every 1 dollar. We also are becoming friends with the wonderful family we are staying with. I’m am staying with Nora and her 3 children (Javian,Ingrid, and Domi) .
Tyler is staying across the compound with Wakumbu’s parents and her brother Emmanuel. We both have to sleep under mosquito nets, which I thought was a canopy at first.
Today we ate Asian food in Africa with the United Church of Zambian Church leaders. We went to an Asian restaurant called Oriental Garden and met 5 of the church officials, and got a sense of how the church here operates. We are partnering with the United Church of Zambia for our project, and we are all excited about getting started!
